Jose Mourinho Ejek Titles Pep Guardiola Champion: I Win Fairly

JAKARTA - Jose Mourinho said the Premier League trophy he won with Chelsea was achieved fairly.

The statement was made by the Portuguese manager in response to comments by Manchester City Pep coach Guardiola that he has six Premier League titles while Mourinho only has three.

Guardiola, whose team lost 0-2 at Liverpool on Sunday, December 1, 2024, raised six fingers to home fans to show the number of league titles he won in response to the screams "you will be sacked tomorrow morning".

Mourinho, while managing Manchester United, also raised three fingers to opposing fans during the disappointing league season, before being sacked in December 2018 after losing to Liverpool.

Guardiola was asked at a press conference whether he would face the same fate as Mourinho.

"I hope not in my case. He won three, I won six, but we were the same," Guardiola said.

Hearing Guardiola's statement, Mourinho was provoked. He gave a spiced response to accusations against Manchester City regarding alleged violations of Premier League financial rules that took place from 2009 to 2018, which the club has always denied.

"Guardiola said something about me. He won six trophies and I won three."

"However, I won fairly and cleanly. If I lose, I want to congratulate my opponent because he is better than me. I don't want to win by dealing with 150 court cases," Mourinho told Turkish media, Hurriyet, on Friday, December 6, 2024, local time.

The Citizens then did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Mourinho's statement.

Mourinho had criticized Manchester City earlier, saying he hoped to add a fourth Premier League medal to his closet if The Citizens stripped of his title.

Manchester United, who were in second place in 2017/2018 or when Mourinho coached, will be awarded the Premier League trophy.
