Erik Ten Hag Officially Leaves Manchester United

JAKARTA - Manchester United released an official statement that Erik ten Hag left his role as manager on Monday, October 28, 2024.

The departure of the Dutch manager came after the Red Devils lost 1-2 at West Ham United headquarters on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

"We thank Erik for everything he has done while with us and wish him all the best in the future," Manchester United said in a statement.

For the time being, Manchester United will see the task of interim manager to Ten Hag's assistant who is also a club legend, Ruud van Nistelrooy.

"Ruud van Nistelrooy will take over the team as a temporary head coach backed by the current coaching team while the head coach remains recruited," The Red Devils wrote again on Instagram.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag was appointed coach of Manchester United in April 2022. He brought the club to win two domestic trophies, namely the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

Ten Hag's seat actually started to heat up at the end of last season. However, club officials still provide opportunities and extend cooperation until the end of this season.

However, as the trip earlier this season was relatively minor, Ten Hag's pressure to be kicked back strengthened.

During nine matches in the Premier League, Manchester United only won three times, lost four times, and drew twice.

Then, in the Europa League this season, the Red Devils only won three draws from the three matches they have played. They are now ranked 21st in the standings.
