West Java Is Getting Stronger At The Peak Of The XXI PON Rowing Standings

The West Java (Jabar) Province (Jabar) contingent is getting stronger at the top of the standings while medals are being won in the rowing sport of the XXI National Sports Week (PON) by collecting 23 medals, Saturday.

Based on data as of Friday (13/9) at 12.00 WIB, Bumi Pasundan athletes have collected 18 gold, three silver and two bronze medals. Meanwhile, in second place West Papua has only managed to collect five medals. The details are three gold and two bronze medals.

Then in third place in the standings, the Jambi Province contingent managed to collect seven medals consisting of two gold, four silver medals and one bronze medal. Meanwhile, the host Aceh had to be scattered in ninth place with the acquisition of one gold medal and one silver.

In the most distended position occupied by the host North Sumatra, Yogyakarta Special Region, Central Kalimantan, and the East Kalimantan contingent who have not yet received any medals.

Since the rowing sport started on September 3, 2024 to Friday (13/9) at 12.00 WIB, a total of 99 medals have been secured by a number of provinces. In full, 33 gold, silver and bronze medals each.

The Javanese contingent still has a great opportunity to add to the medal coffers considering that the Pasundan Earth rowing athlete is still competing in the traditional boat race or dragon boat for nine gold medals.

West Java rowing coach Dedi Kurniawan said that at the 2024 PON which took place in Aceh-North Sumatra, his party targeted at least 20 gold medals from a number of events competed. The West Java contingent is also determined to make the overall champion achievements three times in a rowing sport.

"The West Java target is at least the same as the achievement of the Papua PON," he said.
