PSSI argues, mentions massive employee dismissal due to indiscriminate use of assets

JAKARTA - Bad news is hitting PSSI. The Indonesian Football Federation is said to have carried out massive layoffs (PHK) on employees. This was apparently confirmed by PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) member Arya Sinulingga.

In a statement received on Monday, September 2, 2024, Arya said that massive layoffs were indeed true. He said the step was taken as an effort to realize the transformation of the federation.

"We are transforming football. This transformation cannot be just outside, like it or not, of the PSSI organization," said Arya Sinulingga in his statement.

Furthermore, he also explained that his party had long ago asked consultants to provide criteria for improvement within PSSI. Until finally it was decided that the road taken was by layoffs.

"Based on the data obtained, we carried out evaluation steps and then layoffs," he said.

On the same occasion, Arya also explained that there were irregularities in the use of PSSI documentation and digitization by individuals for personal gain.

Although he did not mention the identity of the perpetrator, Arya said the irregularities were carried out by employees who took advantage of the position.

"He (the employee) used PSSI's digital to fill his own account, yes. In fact, sales were also made on these accounts," he explained.

"Then our photos were used by other media without any origin from PSSI, even from that person. When we took him to the leadership, he didn't even stop. That (including the) crime," said Arya.

Previously, it was widely circulated that PSSI fired around 40 employees suddenly. The media and publication Divisions included those that were quite stealing attention. In addition, there is also a division of engineering that is both laid off on a large scale.

This is clearly a threat to the 2026 World Cup Qualification Third Round event.

Apart from that, the employees affected by layoffs also asked for their rights, ranging from severance pay to BPJS. It was later discovered that PSSI was still in arrears in BPJS contributions since December 2021.
