This GWM Luxury MPV Is Built Locally In Malaysia At The End Of 2025, Take A Peek At The Specifications

JAKARTA - Great Wall Motor (GWM) is preparing to expand Malaysia's assembled line by immediately presenting MPV Wey 80. The car was previously exhibited with the left steering configuration at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024.

Launching from Paultan, Wednesday, December 18, the car will be assembled at a factory owned by EP Manufacturing (EPMB) at the Hicom Pegoh Industrial Park facility in Melaka, Malaysia.

Thus, Wey 80 will be assembled side by side with other GWM models next year, including Haval Jolion HEV and Haval H6 which have reached a milestone with the production of 1,000 units in neighboring countries.

Now, the model is not yet available in the right steering configuration (RHD). However, automotive manufacturers from China have planned to assemble this MPV starting at the end of 2025.

GWM Wey 80 has a seven-seater configuration measuring 5.045 mm, a width of 1.960 mm, a height of 1.900 mm, with a wheelbase distance of up to 3.085 mm. In addition, this luxury MPV also comes with a longer version of wheelbase but there is no indication that it will be offered in Malaysia.

Moving to the interior, this car is covered with layered skin with a captain seat in the second row equipped with a folding table placed on the back of the front seat.

The elements of luxury are getting thicker with the presence of features such as the surround Harman Kardon 16-speaker 1,600 watts and there is a large 12.5 liter refrigerator with a compressor with a temperature from 0 to 50 degrees Celsius with a capacity of less than 14 standard large cans.

Wey 80 for the Malaysian market will have a Hi-4 plug-in hybrid system with a 1.5 liter turbocharged petrol engine measuring 154 dk combined with two 174 dk electric motors on the front and 181 dk on the back.

Thus, this luxury-style car has a combined power of up to 480 dk and the peak torque reaches 762 Nm.

Because this car is equipped with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system, Wey 80 battery supports with a magnitude of 37.96 kWh which can make it run with pure power up to 140 km according to CLTC.
