Success In Porwanas XIV, PWI South Kalimantan Lifts Ecopark Meratus As A Tourist Destination

The Governor of South Kalimantan (Kalsel) Sahbirin Noor was represented by the Assistant General Administration of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government, Ahmad Bagiawan, Sunday (25/8/2024) night, officially closing the XIV National Journalists Sports Week (Porwanas) in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. Porwanas XIV is running successfully while delivering the PWI contingent of South Kalimantan Province to win the overall champion trophy.

"Kalsel not only succeeded as the host of Porwanas XIV, but also won the trophy as the overall champion. Porwanas XIV was the most successful compared to the previous Porwanas-Porwanas," said PWI Central Chair Hendry Ch Bangun at the event.

"The night of the Tamah Friendly Governor of South Kalimantan together with the PWI Contingent throughout Indonesia in Mahligai Pancasila, Banjarmasin.

Witnessed by Hendry Bangun, the general champion trophy Porwanas XIV was handed over by Ahmad Bagiawan to the Chairman of PWI South Kalimantan Zainal Helmie. PWI South Kalimantan won 16 gold, 6 silver and 12 bronze medals.

"We are very proud of the success of the PWI contingent in South Kalimantan Province in winning the overall champion. We are also proud of PWI because through Porwanas it can strengthen the solidity and friendship of journalists from all over Indonesia. Hopefully Porwanas will also be an inspiration for the community to improve sports activities," said Ahmad Bagiawan.

Central SIWO chairman Agus Susanto said Powanas XIV has 11 branches contested and attended by around 1,500 athletes, administrators and officials. Unlike before, Porwanas this time contested journalistic photos, videography and journalistic written works.

It is hoped that through these thought activities, photo competitions, videography and journalistic written works, Porwanas can also promote Ecopark Meratus as an interesting tourist destination in South Kalimantan as well as MSME activities and maintain the preservation of Banjar and Dayak culture in the Meratus mountain area.

The photos, videos and text contested feature a lot of natural wealth and beauty in the Meratus mountains such as the giant Benuang Laki tree, the uniqueness of the Dayak tribe batik craftsmen who use leaves and plants as batik dyes, as well as activities along the Meratus Geopark with kelotok - - reportation of the typical South Kalimantan sea.

Chairman of the Central PWI Hendry Ch Bangun admitted that for almost a week various matches in Porwanas XIV, administrators, athletes and officials can also enjoy the natural beauty and unique culinary delights of South Kalimantan such as Soto Banjar and others.

"If the General Chairperson of PWI praised, hopefully South Kalimantan will be increasingly recognized throughout Indonesia," said South Kalimantan Provincial Government Assistant Administrative Ahmad Bagiawan.
