IBL 2024 Becomes The Longest Season In History

JAKARTA Indonesia Basketball League (IBL) 2024 made many good notes. One of them is the longest season in the history of the highest caste of the national basketball league.

This year's IBL starts from January 13 to August 4. The time range for the seven months is the one on display in this prestigious competition.

It happened because all matches from both the regular season and the playoffs were held with a home and away system. This format has never previously been used.

In previous seasons the home and away system had only been in effect since the playoffs. The change made the IBL implementation for the year take place in 11 cities with a total of 203 matches.

Of the total number of matches, 56 of them were tight and 29 others made records that could reach 100 points. The number of points touching the 100 is something that rarely happens in IBL.

This season's IBL final brings together Pelita Jaya Jakarta against Satria Muda Pertamina Jakarta. Pelita Jaya finally won the title in this historic season.

It is the second title in this competition after previously winning in the 2017 edition. After that, they went to the finals three times (2021, 2022, and 2023), but all of them failed to win.

Pelita Jaya had lost in Game 1 with a score of 71-84 when they met Satria Muda. They then got up and won two other final matches in Game 2 and Game 3.

Overall, this is Pelita Jaya's fourth title in this basketball caste. In addition to the two titles that can be held in IBL, they also have two Kobatama title collections in the 1990 and 1992 editions.
