2024 Olympic Basketball: France To The Final After The Thrilling Match Against Germany

JAKARTA - France managed to secure tickets for the final of the 2024 Paris Olympics after going through a tense battle against Germany.

France won with a narrow score of 73-69 in the semifinal match which was held at the Accor Arena, Paris, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, WIB night.

The hosts were hot late. France had to admit Germany's superiority in the first quarter with a score of 18-25.

Victor Wembanyama and colleagues' appearances increased in the second quarter. They scored 15 points, while Germany only packed eight points. The score made the second quarter end in a 33-33 draw.

In the third quarter, France began to turn things around. An additional 23 points put them ahead 56-50.

The fourth quarter was very tense. France can actually maintain the advantage.

Germany appeared persistent to catch up. Dennis Schroder and his friends got close to 65-70 in the last minute.

Franz Wagner then further made the host public wary because his three-point shot made the distance run low into one ball.

However, Schroder wasted a golden opportunity in that last minute. On two free throws, he only put in one point.

In fact, in the final 30 seconds, France will get momentum away. The Sacrificial foil from Germany made the hosts increase the number.

France finally closed the match with a 73-69 victory even though they made fewer points in the fourth quarter, 17 compared to 19 belonging to Germany.

Guerschon Yabusele became the top scorer for France with 17 points. In the German camp, Schroder scored 18 points, but did not help the team win the Olympic Paris 2024 basketball final ticket.

France will face the winner of the United States vs Serbia in the final which will take place on August 10, 2024 at the Accor Arena.
