Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti Now Focus On Next Match After Losing To Japan

JAKARTA - Indonesian women's doubles, Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, suffered defeat in their first match in the badminton tournament group phase which was held at the Porte De La Chapelle Arena, or Adidas Arena, Saturday, July 27. The Indonesian pair must recognize the superiority of the Japanese women's doubles, Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara, in two straight games with a score of 22-24 and 15-21 after competing for 56 minutes.

"There are still two games ahead, we will fight again. We need to be more focused and tactical in the game, and consistent with the pattern applied and minimize our own mistakes," said Apriyani, as quoted from a brief statement from PP PBSI.

Although the expected results have not been achieved, Apri/Fadia feel that they have implemented the right strategy. They admit that the match was tight, especially in the first game which was very fierce.

"Today's match was very good, especially in the first game which went tight. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish it with an advantage. In the first game, the game was quite balanced, but our adaptation was slightly constrained by the light that was a bit bright. This is no excuse, but it is a bit annoying," added Apriyani, gold medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
