Pelita Jaya Empowers Bali United In The First Round Of The IBL Playoff 2024

JAKARTA - The Pelita Jaya Jakarta team managed to show their superiority as a superior team. They managed to wipe out the victory in the first round of the 2024 IBL Playoff after defeating Bali United Basketball 82-71 in the second game at the Indoor Stadium SC Tangerang, Saturday, July 20 evening.

Pelita Jaya recorded a perfect 2-0 win in the first half of the playoffs, making them the only team to qualify without having to play Game 3. On the other hand, Dewa United Banten had to face Borneo Hornbills in Game 3 to determine the final ticket to the semifinals.

According to ANTARA's report, in that match, Pelita Jaya was 10 points behind Bali United before finally turning things around. The key to their victory lies in an aggressive defense, especially in the third quarter where they managed to hold Bali United to only score 9 points.

Andakara Prastawa became a star for Pelita Jaya by scoring 23 points. Prastawa managed to score 9 out of 10 shots, including 5 three-point shots. Jerome Anthony Beane Jr. contributed 17 points from the bench, with 15 points scored in the fourth quarter. Other contributions came from Justin Brownlee with 14 points and M. Reza Fahdani Guntara who added 11 points.

On the Bali United side, Kierell Green scored double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Xavier Cannefax added 14 points, Abraham Renoldi Wenas scored 12 points, and Ryan Batte contributed 11 points.

Bali United had to accept the fact that they were eliminated from the first half of the playoffs for two consecutive seasons, after previously being swept away by Satria Muda Pertamina Jakarta.

Furthermore, Pelita Jaya will face Prawira Harum Bandung in the semifinals. The two teams have previously met in the 2023 IBL Final, where Prawira came out victorious. This semifinal meeting ensures that the IBL finals this year will be different from the previous year.
