JAKARTA The women's singles badminton player, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, was completely blind to the strength of her opponents in the 2024 Paris Olympic group stage.
The 2017 junior world champion is in Group C with Tereza Svabikova (Republic Ceska) and Polina Buhrova (Ukraine). Both have never met in competitive events.
"My draw is arguably pretty good, but that doesn't mean it will be easy. I've never met the two potential opponents in the group. So, hopefully we can get through that first," said Gregoria.
This is the second Olympics for the Wonogiri badminton player. He previously performed first at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and advanced until the last 16.

The women's singles coach, Herli Djaenudin, said that Gregoria had very high motivation in her second appearance at the Olympics.
"His desire is very strong to give him a bigger achievement. He understands that not necessarily in the next Olympics he can return to appear," said Herli.
Herli also emphasized that his team would not underestimate the potential opponents they face even on Gregoria's paper, which was favored to reach the knockout stages.
"Hopefully, God willing, Gregoria can go according to everything we plan to do," he said.
The Indonesian badminton team is currently still continuing their training camp in Chambly, France. The new team is scheduled to enter the Athlete Village on July 24, 2024.
