JAKARTA The Central Board of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) officially kicked out as many as six players to return to their respective clubs.

The six names affected by the relegation were Iqbal Diaz Syahpitra (PB Exist), Ratana Teja Gotama (PB Exist), Alvi Wijaya Chairullah (PB Mutiara), Stephanie Widjaja (PB Jaya Raya), Tasya Farahnailah (PB Jaya Raya), and Ridya Aulia Fatasya (PB Djarum).

"After going through the results of the assessment and evaluation, PBSI repatriated athletes on behalf of Iqbal Diaz Syahputra,RAjana Teja Gotama, Alvi Wijaya Chairullah, Stephanie Widjaja, Tasya Faahnilah, and Ridya Aulia Fatasya, to return to training in their respective Associations (PB)," read an official statement.

The repatriation is based on the Decree of PP PBSI Number: SKEP/019lL.3'VUZA24 concerning the Relegation and Repatriation of PBSI Pelatnas Athletes Category for Experimental Period 3 (three) International Championships.

"PBSI would like to thank the PB Exist, PB Djarum, PB Jaya Raya, and PB Mutiara, as well as especially to the athletes for their dedication and struggle so far," said PBSI.

Two names that were quite surprising from this relegation were Alvi Wijaya and Stephanie Widjaja. Both names were previously in the squad that appeared in the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC).

PBSI itself has not detailed the reasons for deleting these names from the Cipayung National Training Center. The lack of repatriation is closely related to the performance of each player.

Relegation is usually carried out by PBSI at the end of the year along with athlete promotions. However, there is also relegation carried out in the middle of the calendar year.
