Argentina Undergoes Two Trials Carefully Ahead Of The 2024 Copa America

The Argentine national team met Ecuador in a trial ahead of the 2024 Copa America (Instagram@afaselccion).

JAKARTA - The Argentine national team scheduled the last two trials before appearing at the 2024 Copa America which was held in the United States.

The two test matches are against Ecuador and Guatemala. Both matches were held in the United States.

The Tango team has arrived in the United States to hold a final training camp on June 9, 2024 local time.

They then faced Ecuador on June 10, 2024 at Venue Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois. In that match, Argentina won 1-0 with a narrow score through Angel Di Maria's single goal (40').

There is still one remaining trial against Guatemala on June 15, 2024 at the Venue FedEx Filed, Landover, Maryland.

Coach Lionel Scaloni did not set any targets in the two trials. He did not want to take the risk ahead of his participation in the 2024 Copa America.

Therefore, the coach wants his players to be careful to minimize potential injury. Scaloni wants all the players fit when starting the journey in the 2024 Copa America.

"We will look for minimum risks in friendly matches so that our Copa America can start well on June 20, 2024."

"In the end that's the most important thing. Friendship matches sometimes go bad, in this case we are less fortunate with the injured players."

"So, my goal is that they all arrive in good health for June 20, 2024," Scaloni said in the US.

Apart from that, Scaloni wants his partner not to underestimate any opponent in the 2024 Copa America.

He reflected on the 2022 World Cup. Indeed, Argentian came out as champion, but the defeat to Saudi Arabia 1-2 in the group stage was inevitable and a valuable lesson.

Scaloni has mapped out how to travel in the Copa America. Their rivals such as Uruguay, Brazil, and the host of the United States are clearly a warning.

However, Scaloni does not want to streamline Colombia, Mexico, and Ecuador who have a chance of becoming a dark horse that will complicate their path.
