Shin Tae-yong Will Calm Ernando Ari's Mental Condition After Making A Blunder

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, revealed the condition of the dressing room after losing to Iraq 0-2 in the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification match at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Thursday, June 6, 2024.

Shin Tae-yong mentioned how the changing room situation was in response to the blunder by Ernando Ari Sutaryadi.

As is known, two Iraqi goals were born from the penalties of Aymen Hussein (54') and Ali Jassim (88').

The second Iraqi goal made by Ali Jassim became a concern because he was born to blunder Ernando Ari.

After the match ended, Shin Tae-yong said there was no hot situation in the dressing room after Ernando's blunder.

"The atmosphere of the dressing room is the same, but it seems that Nando (Ernando Ari) looks annoyed with his mistake," said Shin Tae-yong.

The South Korean coach then explained that in the next few days he would not speak to the goalkeeper. Shin Tae-yong did not want to discuss Ernando's mistake too far away.

He really understands the psychological condition of the Persebaya Surabaya goalkeeper. Therefore, the coach knows what approach to take in order to boost his motivation for the following match.

"I will not invite him (Ernando Ari) to talk in the next few days. You see, Nando is also the type of person who easily thinks," said the coach.

Shin Tae-yong hopes that Ernando can quickly recover from the mental pressure he experienced after the match against Iraq.

The reason is, he is still needed by the Indonesian national team considering that there is still one last match of the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification against the Philippines.

"Hopefully in the next few days his condition will improve," said Shin Tae-yong.

The match against the Philippines will be held on June 11, 2024 at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium. The Indonesian national team really needed victory after qualifying for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
