Commission X Of The Indonesian House Of Representatives Approves Calvin Verdonk And Jens Raven's Naturalization Requests

JAKARTA - The meeting of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives with the Menpora and PSSI to discuss the naturalization of Calvin Verdok and Jens Raven will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Ir. Hetifah Sjaifudian MPP as Deputy Chairman of Commission X DPR RI was attended by members who met the quorum.

Calvin Verdink was present in person in the meeting room, while Jens Raven followed via Zoom because he was in France with Indra Sjafri and the Indonesian U-20 national team.

The meeting was preceded by Menpora Dito Ariotedjo regarding the urgency of naturalization of Calvin Verdok and Jens Raven.

Then, PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi gave additional questions about the plans of the two players with the Indonesian national team.

As is known, Calvin and Jens are very chased by naturalization in order to appear in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

"We really hope these two players can strengthen the Indonesian national team in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers."

"If you win this match (two matches remaining the second men qualifying), the Indonesian national team will qualify for the third round of the qualifiers."

"In the third round, there are still many other Asian lions that must be faced. We are optimistic. We ask for support from Commission X. You see, there is hope that we qualify for the 2026 World Cup."

"Hopefully this support can provide the best achievements for Indonesian football. We thank Commission X for their infinite gratitude, which always provides support, especially in increasing Indonesia's football achievements," said Yunus.

After that, the court leadership threw it at the meeting members to give an opinion. In essence, all members approved the application for Calvin and Jens citizenship even with a number of notes.

Finally, at the end of the meeting, Hetifah read out the conclusion of Commission X's decision on the request for citizenship.

"Commission X DPR RI approved the recommendation of citizenship of the Republic of Indonesia on behalf of Calvin Verdink and Jens Raven on the note that the determination of Indonesian citizenship was determined by the competent agency based on the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations," he said.

The naturalization of Calvin and Jens in the DPR RI is still ongoing. They still have to be held at Commission III before being brought to the DPR Plenary Session to make a decision.
