The Indonesian National Team Starts TC, Gathering Players Today

The Indonesian national team will undergo a training camp ahead of the 2026 World Cup Qualification (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team will start undergoing the training camp (TC) agenda on Monday, May 27, 2024. Therefore, Garuda Squad players will start gathering tonight.

This news was revealed directly by the Chairman of the National Team Agency (BTN), Sumardji. In his statement he said the players began to gather tonight in Jakarta.

"Yes, they (players) are indeed scheduled to start gathering today (Monday, May 27, 2024), tonight at 19.00 WIB in Jakarta," Sumardji said in a statement when contacted Monday, May 27, 2024.

This TC agenda began to be held by Shin Tae-yong as an effort to prepare the team. The Garuda squad will play two important matches in the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

The match will bring together the Indonesian national team against Iraq and the Philippines on June 6 and 11, 2024. All of these matches will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta.

For the TC agenda, Shin Tae-yong has called 22 players. Sumardji said that for the beginning of this week, TC is more dominated by players who have completed the competition agenda at their respective clubs, both domestic and abroad league players.

That means there will be many players from Liga 1. However, there are also abroad players who can get closer. They are Shayne Pattynama and Ragnar Oratmangoen.

Both are even known to have arrived early in Indonesia for a vacation in Bali. There is also Sandy Walsh who is on his way to Indonesia.

Meanwhile, other abroad players will follow in the near future. Indonesian national team defender, Jay Idzes, said Sumardji, will also fly to Jakarta after completing the final playoff for promotion to Serie A with Venezia.

"Yes, he (Jay Idzes) will follow after the playoffs," said Sumardji.

Jay Idzes will first defend his team. Venezia will face Cremonese in the promotional playoffs which will take place on May 31 and June 3, 2024 WIB. The positive results of the two legs will bring Venezia to Italy's highest league.

Jay Idzes is expected to arrive in Indonesia on time to undergo two important matches with the Garuda Squad.
