Indonesian Rowing Team Prepares For Final Qualification For The 2024 Paris Olympics

JAKARTA - The Indonesian rowing team is preparing to face the final qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics which will take place in Luzern, Switzerland, on 19-21 May.

"Last qualification in Switzerland May 19-21 there are four LM2X events, LW2X, who did not qualify at this time, and two more M4- and M2-," said Okhan Adris when contacted by an instant message from Jakarta, Sunday.

"Last qualification is certainly more difficult, because a collection of all countries has not passed."

In qualifying for the Olympics at the World Rowing Asian & Oceanian Olympic and Paralympic Qualification Regga in Chungju, South Korea, which took place on April 19-21, Indonesian men's rowing athlete La Memo managed to lock up a place at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Okhan said the competition in the qualifying event was very tight. The Indonesian rowing team has even been conducting training camp or training camp in Chungju, South Korea, since April 4.

For the final qualification of the Paris Olympics in May, Okhan revealed a number of strategies undertaken to achieve the best results.

"The initial team will depart (M4- & M2-) on April 22, conduct exercises in the Netherlands until May 15, then to Switzerland, and other teams will follow because visas have not been issued from the Dutch Embassy," Okhan said.

"We hope that of course there will be additions that will escape the four events."

The same thing was conveyed by the Secretary-General of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Rowing Sports Association (PB PODSI) Edy Suyono who hoped that the Indonesian rowing team could steal tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"Putri is the mainstay, hopefully the double scills can steal Olympic tickets even though competition in Europe is tighter with American and other athletes left behind," said Edy, quoted by Antara.
