Pedro Acosta Ready To Face Challenges At The Red Bull Grand Prix Of The Americas

The Red Bull GAS Tech3 team has made a breakthrough in the MotoGPTM championship. The rookie racer managed to reach his first podium in Portugal after completing a dramatic race with extraordinary results. Askosta has even faced big names like Francesco Bagnaia from the Ducati Lenovo Team team and Marc Marquez from Gresini Racing MotoGPTM.

During Friday's training session, April 12, the owner of the Red Bull GAS Tech3 Team, Herve Poncharal, praised the MotoGPTM rookie rider. "I don't know how to express my feelings. Of course, everything went better than we expected. These races have been a dream," Poncharal said.

At the Portuguese Grand Prix, Asko finished third, grabbed the podium after a dramatic race in the final round, only 5.362 seconds from victory, and became the third youngest racer to reach the podium.

Commenting on the podium, Poncharal added, "The race in Portugal is amazing: pace, strategy, cool head that can be put forward. When you're still a rookie and duel with Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez, you can often be fast, but often you can make rookie mistakes, and I'm grateful to say that."

Asosta is now facing a new challenge at Circuit Of The Americas, the circuit where the 19-year-old won in the Moto2TM class in 2023. After the first day riding a MotoGPTM motorbike at COTA, Askosta finished training last Friday in fifth place, only half a second from the top position, which Poncharal praised as the fast learning ability of the Spaniard.

"COTA is a very special circuit, and with Moto2TM, it has a very good feeling, but with MotoGPTM, it's a different world. But this morning, in a few laps, it was in P1, but we'll see what we can expect," Poncharal said.

However, Poncharal still doesn't know how to describe Asko's talent. This rookie is in fifth position in the standings, only 32 points adrift of championship leader Jorge Martin of Prima Pramac Racing team.

"We were in a dream, I don't know how to explain it, it's not normal. He was dueling with great riders like Pecco Bagnaia, Marc Marquez, and Fabio Quartararo who had been here for several seasons and racing in Austin. They do things that cannot be explained, they are magic, "concluded Poncharal.
