Indra Sjafri Temporarily Holidays The U-20 Indonesian National Team, Returns To Practice On April 17

Indra Sjafri led the Indonesian U-20 National Team TC (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The U-20 Indonesian national team coach, Indra Sjafri, decided to give his team time off. After undergoing training camp (TC) since March 2024, the team has been temporarily closed and will only be back together on April 17, 2024.

In the last exercise held at Field B, Senayan, Thursday, April 4, 2024, Indra Sjafri explained that so far the TC program has been running smoothly, including two trials against China.

"First, it went well, yes, this TC was in accordance with the plan. There were two trials and several internal game times," said Indra Sjafri.

Indra Sjafri also revealed the results of the evaluation regarding a number of players who were summoned. Later, these players will not all be included in the advanced TC.

"Secondly, from the results of the evaluation of the players we called, there were about 12 players that we called from regional selection."

"Today we are confirming which of them will enter the 36 squads who will join the follow-up TC on April 17, 2024," he said.

The U-20 Indonesian national team training camp was also attended by a number of players playing abroad. They are Marselinus Ama Ola (UD Logrones), Eros Dermawan (UD Logrones), Welber Jardim (Sao Paolo FC), Chow Damanik (Lausanne Sport), and Dillan Yabran Rinaldi (SV Bergisch Cladbach 09).

Of the five players, Indra Sjafri explained that several players had returned directly to the country where they had their careers when TC was closed.

"There is Marsel, there is Eros. Then today there is Welber, three days ago there was Chow and all of them have returned (to their country). The League 1 player, who yesterday was planning to conduct camp, we returned it to the club," said the coach.

Previously, it was known that the TC agenda for the U-20 Indonesian national team was a preparation to appear in the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup in June 2024. In addition, they will also compete in the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers.
