Liga 1 2023/2024 Continuation Week Canceled Postponed, Scrolling Again After Eid Holiday

Liga 1 2023/2024 week 31 takes place again on April 15, 2024 (doc. PT LIB).

JAKARTA - The continuation week of Liga 1 2023/2024 was announced to be postponed. The postponement began in the 30th week of completion from March 31, 2024 to May 3, 2024.

As a result, the match week 31 which was actually held on April 1-4, 2024, was canceled. PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) moved the party week 31 after May 3, 2024.

The decision was made because it accommodated the needs of the U-23 Indonesian national team which competed in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup on 15 April-3 May 2024.

You see, many League 1 club players have been called up to attend the U-23 Indonesian national team training camp since April 1, 2024.

The decision gave birth to controversy and a wave of criticism. The reason is clear, the appearance of the U-23 Indonesian national team in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup is not the FIFA agenda.

This means that Liga 1 should continue. Moreover, the original schedule has taken into account the Eid holiday which is quite long, from April 8-15, 2024.

In detail, the 31st week of Liga 1 will be the last week before the Eid holiday. Then, week 32 will continue on April 15, 2024.

Well, PT LIB again revoked the decision to postpone Liga 1 on Thursday, April 4, 2024. After holding an online meeting with the owner of Liga 1 club, the operator decided to continue to run the highest level Indonesia competition in conjunction with the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.

The 31st week of Liga 1 2023/2024 was decided to run on April 15, 2024 after the Eid holiday.

"At a meeting with the club owner, we were looking for a win-win solution for all parties. Finally, we decided that the 31st week of Liga 1 2023/2024 will resume on April 15, 2024," said the President Director of PT LIB, Ferry Paulus, in his statement quoted Thursday, April 4, 2024.

Furthermore, Ferry informed that he chose April 15, 2024, as the time for the resumption of Liga 1 was decided after considering many things. In order to determine the exact date, even the meeting with the club owner was held twice.

"At the meeting with the club owner, there were several options for the start date again for the 31st week of Liga 1 2023/2024."

"After everyone understands and takes into account all the situation, conditions, and readiness of the club that is not good if they wait long and have to rest, then we decide the competition will continue on April 15, 2024," said Ferry Paulus.

Meanwhile, the decision to continue Liga 1 on April 15, 2024, was immediately communicated to all clubs through a letter numbered 468/LIB-COR/IV/2024.

"We ask the club to prepare for the match as set out to run well and smoothly," reads the letter signed by Ferry Paulus.
