JAKARTA - The new stadium in Pengalengan, West Java, has now begun to be used by the Executive Board of the Indonesian Athletics Association (PB PASI) for the national training camp (pelatnas) of athletes in two running numbers, namely long and middle distance.

"That's right, the arena in Pengalengan has begun to be used for long- and middle-distance athlete training," said Head of PB PASI Achievement Development Division Ria Lumintuarso when confirmed via telephone lines in Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, March 30.

He said the national training arena in Pengalen was chosen because of his ideal natural conditions for the development of stamina and athletes' techniques.

Ria explained that athletic facilities in Pengalengan, which are currently in the final stages of development, are targeted for completion in June 2024.

After that, he said, athletes from other running numbers will join the national training program which will continue in July-December 2025.

"This is a preparatory step towards the 2025 Thailand SEA Games," he said.

He added that this facility in Pengalengan is a forum for idolizing athletes and for competitions at the national level.

Training center facilities in Canning are projected to accommodate up to 100 athletes equipped with facilities and infrastructure for all athletic branch numbers such as the 8-trajection run track, 100-meter extra sprint track, long jump and sickle, lembing throw.

In addition, the Steeplech track, disc throwing, hammering, pole vaulting, shot put, high jump, hill run facilities, and spectator stands. Other supporting facilities are also prepared such as a gym, athlete dressing room, classroom, dormitory building, and extensive vehicle parking.
