JAKARTA - Operational Director of PT. Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) Sudjarno said that the change in the schedule for the 2021 Menpora Cup starting from March 20 to March 21 was the result of an agreement with PSSI and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora).

"Due to various activities so PSSI, LIB, and Kemenpora agreed (Menpora Cup) starting on March 21," said Sudjarno as quoted by Antara, Monday.

Although he resigned for a day, the retired National Police officer with the final rank of Inspector General of Police confirmed that the date for the final party would not change.

The Menpora Cup will run as originally scheduled with the top match being held on April 25, 2021.

"The change in the date of commencement of the Kemenpora Cup does not change the plan significantly. The schedule is fixed until April 25," said Sudjarno.

The 2021 Menpora Cup pre-season tournament, which takes place on March 21-April 25, 2021, will be followed by 18 League 1 teams.

There are four regions that host the group stage, namely Bandung, Sleman, Solo, and Malang.

In accordance with the agreement of the National Police, Kemenpora, PSSI, and LIB, the 2021 Menpora Cup must be implemented with strict implementation of the COVID-19 prevention health protocol.

The National Police made the 2021 Menpora Cup as a reference for granting permission to crowd the Indonesian League 1 and League 2 for the 2021 season.

If the competition runs smoothly and implements the health protocol for preventing COVID-19 well, the National Police will ensure that League 1 and League 2 2021 can roll out. However, had the opposite happened, the crowd permit for the league would not be issued.
