Thomas Doll Still Appreciates Persija Jakarta Even Though He Returns Without Points

JAKARTA - Persija Jakarta again swallowed a bitter result after Madura United's meeting in the 25th week of Liga 1 2023/2024, Thursday, February 22, 2024. Thomas Doll as the coach of the Kemayoran Tigers said his team had given maximum performance even though they failed to gain points.

Thomas Doll saw the team had struggled until the last minute at the duel at the I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Bali. However, the results obtained were still not as expected. He did not hesitate to congratulate the visitors.

"Congratulations to Madura United. I think everyone can see our team give everything, fight until the last minute, but we can't score goals," Doll said after the game.

"If you want to win the game, you have to score at the right moment. However, we can't do that, that's the consequence," he said.

The Kemayoran Tigers fell 0-1 from Madura United with a goal in the final minute. This negative result was Persija Jakarta's second consecutive defeat after being beaten by Borneo FC 1-3 in the previous week.

This result makes Persija Jakarta still stuck in ninth place in the 2023/2024 Liga 1 standings with 32 points. That number is nine points apart from being able to enter the top four zone.

Meanwhile, Riko Simanjuntak also apologized to supporters who even took the time to come directly to the stadium.

He added that now is a difficult situation for Persija because they have to play home games far from the city of Jakarta.

"The situation is difficult for us where we have to play far from Jakarta. The results have not taken sides with us. This is our responsibility as a team," said Riko.
