Eriksson Will Train Liverpool For The Match Against Ajax 23 March

JAKARTA - Former England national team coach totaling Eriksson had the opportunity to coach Liverpool in a charity match between the club's legends against Ajax Amsterdam at Anfield next month.

Eriksson, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, has been calling himself a Liverpool fan for a long time and hopes to coach the club one day.

On Tuesday local time, Liverpool announced Eriksson would be part of their coaching team for the match to take place on March 23.

"All parties related to the club and the LFC Foundation can't wait to welcome Liverpool fans, focus, and his family at Anfield, and see him in the coaching area that day, for such a fantastic fundraising opportunity," Liverpool said on its official website, quoted by Antara.

Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp previously said that he was very happy to hand over coaching responsibilities to Eriksson.

"Of course he is very welcomed here, and he can sit in my chair in my office, and do my job for one day if he wants it. No problem," Klopp said after Eriksson revealed his diagnosis.

"Signing him here and showing him everything, and how the club has grown over the years, I think it's something we're going to tell him. He can come and run a beautiful few hours here," added the German coach.

As England coach, Eriksson once took the team to the 2002 and 2006 World Cup quarter-finals. He has also won the UEFA Cup with IFK Gothenburg club, three Portuguese League titles in Benfica, and one Italian League title with Lazio.
