Vitor Roque Called Will Be Barcelona's New Mainstay

JAKARTA - Striker Vitor Roque will be Barcelona's newstay after scoring a single goal against Osasuna in La Liga 2023/2024. Midfielder Pedri believes Roque made an important contribution to Barca.

Roque proved himself worthy of being the mainstay of Barca's front line. He only needed to make adjustments for a while before finally showing his ability to act in front of the opponent's goal.

In the duel against Osasuna at the Olimpic Lluis Companys Stadium, Thursday, February 1, 2024, early morning WIB, Barca won 1-0 through a forward goal from Athletico Paranaense.

Interestingly, Roque was added in the 62nd minute. Only one minute later, he immediately scored. This is the only goal in that game.

Roque's appearance drew praise from his colleague in the Blaugrana. Midfielder Pedri said Roque was able to contribute to the team.

"The vector is in harmony with the team. He is also a reliable goalscorer. I'm sure he will contribute a lot to us," said Pedri.

"He can always get past whoever is guarding him. This is important for his colleagues who play in the middle."

Coach Xavi Hernandez also praised. According to him, the goal was very important for Roque and the team.

"That goal is very important. He really needs that goal. He gave the team a win. This is what makes the difference and this is very good for him," said Xavi.

The victory over Osasuna is very meaningful. Barca had moved up to third before being taken back by Atletico Madrid who defeated Rayo Vallecano.

"This victory is very meaningful. Especially after we had a week that was not as usual, namely the decision (to resign) of the coach. Now, we are trying to give everything for him," said Pedri again.

"We knew this would be his last games. So, we had to live it enthusiastically to give him victory until the end of the season. Moreover, the coach has helped us a lot," he said.

Xavi announced his resignation after Barca's defeat against Villarreal. However, he will withdraw after the end of the competition.

With Xavi's departure, a number of coaches are said to be replacing him.

Including Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp, who simultaneously also announced his resignation. Klopp also just left Liverpool at the end of the season.
