Indonesia Masters 2024 Champion Trophy Zheng Siwei Falls And Is Destroyed At Istora

Zheng Si Wei/Huang Ya Qiong won the Indonesia Masters 2024 mixed doubles (doc. BWF).

JAKARTA The 2024 Indonesia Masters champion trophy belonging to Chinese mixed doubles specialist Zheng Si Wei, fell and was destroyed outside Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta.

Si Wei naik podium juara bersama Huang Ya Qiong setelah mengalahkan pasangan Jepang. Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito, di laga final dengan skor 21-15 dan 21-16 di Istora pada Minggu, 28 Januari 2024, siang WIB.

The title made Si Wei and his partner bring home trophies and medals. The trophy and medal were given directly by Indonesian badminton legend, Liliyana Natsir.

Unfortunately then happened to Si Wei when he was about to leave Istora Senayan. The trophy, which was just given by a former badminton player who is familiarly called Butet, fell and was shattered into pieces in front of Istora's door.

BWF via uploads on Instagram shows footage of Si Wei's trophy that has fallen and its fragments are still scattered on the asphalt. The upload was followed by a short caption 'Oh, no' as well as crying emoticons and split hearts.

Zheng/Huang are one of the only Chinese representatives to win at the Indonesia Masters 2024. The other two Chinese titles were won by women's singles Wang Zhi Yi and women's doubles Liu Sheng Shu/Tan Ning.

Indonesia brought home one title from the men's doubles. Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin won after defeating Danish men's doubles, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup.

Leo/Daniel are back-to-back champions in the Super 500 BWF level event. Last year they also came out as champions to help Indonesia get two titles with Jonatan Christie's men's singles.
