Indra Sjafri Plans To Return A Number Of Indonesian U-20 National Team Players And Try New Players

Indra Sjafri will write off and bring in a new player for the U-20 Indonesian national team (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The U-20 Indonesian national team coach, Indra Sjafri, said there was an opportunity to repatriate several players in the team. This deletion will be carried out before the test match against Thailand.

This was stated by Indra Sjafri after leading the team to undergo a training camp in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday, January 19, 2024. The player's deletion will be carried out after the coaching team conducts a joint evaluation.

"Yes (there will be a deletion), after this (training session) we (the coaching team) will evaluate," he said.

"From the old (player), tonight we will discuss with the coaching team, how many have to get out of the training camp to be returned to their club," said Indra Sjafri.

The coach took this step to sort out quality players to be included in the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup and 2025 U-20 World Cup Qualifiers.

Although he will make a deletion, Indra Sjafri also explained that there will be one new player who joins the team.

"However, what is certain is that from our communication with friends in the regions, there is one player from Medan, today (19/1/2024) we call. If I'm not mistaken, the club is Perla and Monday (22/1/2024) he has participated (training)," said Indra Sjafri.

The U-20 Indonesian national team is currently still undergoing a training camp which will be held on December 22, 2023. In this series of preparations, there are a number of test matches that will be followed.

The trial will involve Thailand and Uzbekistan as opponents. The match against Thailand will be held on January 26, 2024 and Uzbekistan on January 30, 2024. All the test matches will be held in Jakarta and can be watched live.
