Malaysia Open 2024: Bagas/Fikri Ready To Fight

JAKARTA - Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri confirmed that they are ready to fight at the 2024 Malaysia Open which will take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the Axiata Arena.

The All England 2022 champion is one of four Indonesian representatives from the men's doubles who will appear in the Super 1000 level event.

"My condition and Fikri are quite good. We have started training preparations a week after the 2023 BWF World Tour Finals," said Bagas.

"So, there are two to three weeks of duration. The exercise has been maximized and we hope to start 2024 well," he added.

Apart from Bagas/Fikri, the men's doubles will be represented by Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, veteran doubles Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, and Leo Rolly/Carnando Daniel Marthin.

Fajar/Rian will come there as the defending champion. Malaysia Open is one of two titles won by the world's former world number one doubles in the calendar last year.

In addition to the four men's doubles, Indonesia also sent men's singles and mixed doubles of three representatives each and two other representatives from the women's singles.

Meanwhile, from the women's doubles number, Indonesia certainly does not have a representative because of the resignation of Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto who are not fit.

Men's singles fielded Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo. Meanwhile, from the women's singles there are Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Putri Kusuma Wardani.

The mixed doubles participating in this event were Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, and Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati.
