Malaysia Open 2024: Fajar/Rian Asked Not to be Burdened

JAKARTA – The defending champion pair of the Malaysia Open, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, have been asked not to be burdened when appearing at the event starting Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

Fajar/Rian will start their journey in the Super 1000 event against a pair from Canada, Dong Adam (Xingyu)/Nyl Yakura.

Head of Development and Achievement Division, Rionny Mainaky, said that the preparations of all Indonesian representatives so far had been good. He also asked them not to be burdened.

"Especially for Fajar/Rian who are defending champions. This is momentum to get a good start at the start of the year," said Rionny in the statement received.

The Malaysia Open is one of two titles won by Fajar/Rian in 2023. At that time, they won after defeating the pair Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang.

Rionny said that Fajar/Rian and his colleagues had been equipped with optimal preparations to face the first big event in early 2024.

"I emphasize adding physical training and strategy on the field. I also constantly remind children of match analysis videos to study their own game and that of their opponents," he said.

Fajar/Rian are one of four Indonesian men's doubles who will play at the Malaysia Open 2024. The other three pairs are Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, and Leo Rolly Carnando Daniel Marthin.

Meanwhile, men's singles and mixed doubles each sent three representatives and two representatives from women's singles. Meanwhile, in women's doubles, Indonesia certainly does not have a representative.

This is because the two couples who entered the draw, namely Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Lanny Tria Mayasari/Ribka Sugiarto, withdrew from the 2024 Malaysia Open because they were not healthy.
