DPP Perbasi Calls 4 Senior Players for Asian Games 2026 Preparation

Basketball player Brandon Jawato was also called up for the 2026 Asian Games preparations (Perbasi doc).

JAKARTA - The Central Representative Council of the Indonesian Basketball Association (DPP Perbasi) has called four senior players to join the concentration of training for the 2026 Asian Games.

The four players who were called up were Brandon Jawato and Vincent Kosasih from Pelita Jaya, Abraham Damar Grahita from Satria Muda, and Lester Prosper from the Dewa United Banten club.

"These names will join and train together with the team that is prepared to face the 2029 FIBA Asia Cup Pre-Qualification," explained the Manager of the Indonesian Men's 5X5 Basketball National Team, Rivaldo Tandra, in an official statement received by the media.

The national basketball parent had previously called a total of 19 players to train under the direction of coach David Singleton at the Dewa United Arena. The names who were called first for the 2029 FIBA Asia Cup Pre-Qualifying preparation have been training since August 3, 2026.

Singleton will also be the head coach for the Indonesian Men's 5X5 Basketball Team for the 2026 Asian Games. Thus, the players' preparations are directly continuous for the two agendas.

The 2029 FIBA Asia Cup Round I Pre-Qualification match is scheduled to take place from August 24 to September 1, 2026. Indonesia is in Group C along with Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Meanwhile, the 2026 Asian Games will take place from September 19, 2026 to October 4, 2026 in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan. In the four-year multi-branch sports festival, Indonesia filled Group A with South Korea, Japan, and Saudi Arabia.

"In the 2029 FIBA Asia Cup Pre-Qualification, we will see the depth of local players, while for the 2026 Asian Games, of course, we will call on players who are more senior and experienced because the Asian stage," said Rivaldo.
