After TC In Qatar, Indonesia U-20 Intensive Exercises In Jakarta

Indonesia U-20 underwent the second phase of TC in Jakarta (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - Indonesia U-20 has completed its first phase training camp (TC) in Doha, Qatar, on 23-28 December 2023. Garuda Muda troops will continue TC in Jakarta on 30 December 2023-28 January 2024.

While in Qatar, coach Indra Sjafri has started selecting players because Indonesia U-20 will implement promotions. In the team's last training, Garuda Muda underwent an internal game.

Indonesia U-20 is divided into two teams (red jerseys and white jerseys). The red team won with a score of 1-0 through Hugo Samir's single goal.

"Alhamdulillah, we will end the TC in Qatar internally. We will conduct an evaluation with the coaching team. Later we will announce who will continue in the second phase of TC," said Indra Sjafri.

"(They will) join other players who are also leaving today to gather on December 30 (December) in Jakarta and our inaugural training starting on January 1", he added.

Indra Sjafri further said that TC in Jakarta would be held more intensively. In addition to longer TC times, the 60-year-old coach has also asked PSSI to find opponents for his team.

"Our continuedTC in Jakarta starts from December 30, 2023 to January 28, 2024, later we will conduct several trials. Now, PSSI is trying to contact several national teams from other countries to be able to play in Indonesia," said Indra Sjafri.

In the second phase of TC, coach Indra Sjafri will call a number of new names.

Previously, Indonesia U-20 brought 26 players to Qatar. Of that number, there were players who were sent home. Then, Indra called in other names for the second phase of TC.

In the first TC exercise for the second phase, Monday, January 1, 2024, there were 34 players entering Indonesia U-20.

"After Qatar, we continued the training camp in Jakarta which was attended by 34 players. So, after TC Qatar we have promoted (calls) and relegated (returns) for players."

"We want to see other potentials. We will carry out a number of test capabilities for players at the training camp in Jakarta," said Indra Sjafri.

"We also apply the promotional system and relegation of players every week. During the training camp in Jakarta, apart from training and a number of tests, we planned 2-3 test programs," said Indra.

In 2024, Indonesia U-20 will play several tournaments such as the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup, the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification. Garuda Muda targets to qualify for the 2025 U-20 World Cup which must be the semifinalist of the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup.
