Indonesia Vs Libya Trial: Shin Tae-yong Wants To Control Player Conditions

Shin Tae-yong saw the extent of the preparations for the Indonesian national team for the 2023 Asian Cup (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team will undergo the first test match during the training camp (TC) in Turkey. Libya will be the opponent of the match on January 2, 2024 at the Mardan Sports Complex.

The party will be an event for Shin Tae-yong to control the condition of the team in preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup.

"So (through this trial) we can control the condition of the players. Our first focus is indeed in the 2023 Asian Cup. So, everything will be focused on that," said Shin Tae-yong on the PSSI website.

In addition to controlling the condition of the players, Shin Tae-yong will also see to what extent the team's tactical side is running. In Sunday's practice, December 31, 2023, the South Korean coach had galvanized his team with tactical material.

"The exercise was to prepare tactically for the match against Libya," said Indonesian national team goalkeeper Ernando Ari.

"Taxical training, (one of them) is a build-up to face the test against Libya," continued Wahyu Prasetyo.

"As long as TC is here (my condition) is quite good. The condition of my friends is also better than before," said the player from PSIS Semarang.

Meanwhile, the trial against Libya is planned to be held twice. Another match will be held on January 5, 2024.

Regarding the decision to choose Libya as the opponent, Shin Tae-yong admitted that there was no specific reason. He is only looking for the available team to be invited to compete.

If you look at the FIFA rankings in December 2023, Libya occupies the position of 126. Meanwhile, the Indonesian national team is ranked 147.

"So, there is actually no special reason to choose Libya, indeed in this new year it is difficult to find opponents, but Libya as a team from Africa wants to come against us in Turkey on January 2 and 5," said Shin Tae-yong.

The Indonesian national team has been in TC in Turkey since December 21, 2023. After two against Libya, they will leave for Qatar.

Before appearing in the 2023 Asian Cup on January 12-10 February 2024, the Indonesian national team still had one trial against Iran on January 9, 2024.
