Shin Tae-yong Has A Reason To Choose Syahrul Trisna Instead Of Nadeo For The Indonesian National Team Goalkeeper

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, has determined 29 names of players who were brought to Turkey for training camp (TC) in preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup. Syahrul Trisna became one of the coaches' choices to guard under the crossbar.

Shin Tae-yong's decision to appoint Syahrul had caused a polemic. The reason is, of the three goalkeepers brought to Turkey, there is no Nadeo Argawinata name that is usually a subscription.

The boy, Syahrul Trisna, who is Persikabo 1973 goalkeeper, gave rise to pros and cons. The reason is, rather than Sahrul, Nadeo's performance at the Indonesian club and national team is considered more capable.

Nadeo Argawinata has appeared very impressive with his club, Borneo FC, by recording 10 times without conceding from 23 matches.

Nadeo's slick performance also helped Pesut Etam now firmly at the top of the 2023/2024 Liga 1 standings.

Meanwhile, Syahrul, who appeared for Persikabo 1973, was having trouble getting the main place in the team.

So far this season, Syahrul has only appeared nine times with 33 rescues, 16 concedings, and 1 clean-sheet.

With this performance comparison, it turns out that there are other reasons that make Shin Tae-yong prefer to bring Syahrul rather than Nadeo to Turkey.

The South Korean coach said that Syahrul was a good player and had the ability to control his calm while guarding the goal.

"Indeed, Syahrul (Trisna) is a very calm player during the match," he said when met at the Le Meridien Hotel, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, WIB night.

"Indeed, yesterday he often competed with Nadeo (Argawinata). Sometimes Nadeo plays, sometimes Syahrul plays," he continued about the competition between the two goalkeepers in the Indonesian national team.

However, Shin Tae-yong said he had to weigh the performance of each goalkeeper while defending the Garuda Squad. He considered Syahrul to be a more capable player than Nadeo.

"When Syahrul played, the possibility of conceding was small and small. So, Syahrul (for TC to Turkey) was finally chosen," concluded the coach.

So far, the squad that Shin Tae-yong brought to Turkey is not a definite list that will appear in the 2023 Asian Cup in January-February.

A total of 29 names participating will still be selected until 26 names are obtained according to the wishes of the coach.

The training camp for the Indonesian national team ahead of the 2023 Asian Cup will start from December 20, 2023 to January 6, 2024.

While in Turkey, the players will also undergo a test agenda against Libya to maximize preparations.

Apart from Syahrul Trisna, Shin Tae-yong also brought Ernando Ari and Muhammad Riyandi as goalkeepers. The three of them had to fight as much as possible to be brought to the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar.
