Shin Tae-Yong Disbursed Preparations For Departing TC To Turkey, The Squad Is Not Complete

Shin Tae-yong said the Indonesian national team will only undergo a full training program when the squad is complete at the beginning of next year (VOI/Ulfa Gusti).

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, revealed his team's preparations before leaving for Turkey to conduct a training camp (TC) to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup.

The South Korean coach said the Garuda squad would leave for Turkey on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, but the number was not complete.

"Preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup starts today. We get together and tomorrow (Wednesday morning) go to Turkey. After Turkey, the squad is not complete because not all of them have come," said Shin Tae-yong when met in the Central Jakarta area, Tuesday, December 19, 2023, evening WIB.

In this TC agenda in Turkey, Shin Tae-yong will bring 29 players. He said that after all the players were fully present, Shin would only run the training agenda optimally in early 2024.

"So, later (after the players gather) we will definitely provide basic physical training materials and tactics. After January 1, 2024, maybe it will only be able to provide better team training tactically," continued the coach.

Despite bringing 29 names on the Turkish TC agenda, that number will be narrowed to 26 players. That number is still more than the number of entry by name set by the 2023 Asian Cup, which is 23 names.

While undergoing TC in Tuki later, the Indonesian national team will also undergo a number of trials, one of which is against Libya.

Meanwhile, the Garuda squad will fight Iran when TC in Qatar. The choice of the two countries as opponents turned out to have their own reasons according to Shin Tae-yong's explanation.

"For Libya, it is indeed the most suitable opponent I think when we were in Turkey, that's why we chose them. As for Iran, indeed after going to Doha, only Iran can be fought and that could be our anticipation for the match against Iraq, the first match in the 2023 Asian Cup," he explained.
