Refusing To Blame Onana Goalkeeper, Erik Ten Hag: I Am Responsible

JAKARTA - Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag refused to blame goalkeeper Andre Onana for failing to win over Galatasaray in the Champions League. Ten Hag declared himself responsible after Manchester United were arrested by Galatasaray 3-3 in the Champions League Group A match, Thursday, November 30 in the morning WIB.

MU did not deserve a draw let alone lost against Galatasaray. The team played impressively in the away match. And, Galatasaray cages which have been a scourge for MU and English Premier League clubs can also be conquered.

In that match, MU was two goals ahead and even had a score of 3-1. However, Galatasaray was able to catch up and close the match with a score of 3-3. MU conceded twice due to Onana's blunder.

An irony is that Onana was brought in from Inter Milan after Manchester United released David de Gea. The problem is, De Gea is a goalkeeper who often saves MU.

Even the opposing team was difficult to win because of De Gea's brilliant performance with his extraordinary reflexive motion.

However, Ten Hag refused to blame Onana for being easily conceded. He firmly stated that the failure was his fault.

"It's always me [who should be blamed for wasting chances of winning]. I'm in charge. But I know that we're still on this project," said Ten Hag. "We're still on the right track. So I know where we're going and what steps to take. I know we're going to achieve success for a long time," he said again.

A draw against Galatasaray put MU at the bottom of the standings with points four. MU was saved by Bayern Munich who held FC Copenhagen to a 0-0 draw which kept their chances maintained.

Despite being at the lowest rank, MU was still able to qualify for the last 16. The condition is that MU must win over Bayern in the last match at Old Trafford, December 13 in the morning WIB.

But their fate came to the result of the Copenhagen match hosting Galatasaray.

Both teams must beat each other to anticipate if MU wins over Bayern who have qualified for the last 16.

"If we want to stay in the Champions League, we have to win this game," said Ten Hag.
