JAKARTA Luca Marini has officially joined Repsol Honda. He was awarded a contract from the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) for two seasons.

HRC announced the cooperation through an official statement on Monday, November 27, 2023. Marini will replace the vacant position left by Marc Marquez.

"The HRC recruited Luca Marini. Honda Racing Corporation proudly announced the recruitment of Luca Marini for the 2024 and 2025 MotoGP seasons," Honda wrote.

"He will join Joan Mir in the factory team (Repsol Honda) on a two-year contract," added Honda.

Marini joined MotoGP in 2021 after becoming runner-up in Moto2 2020. At that time he won six wins and 15 podiums.

Since joining the main class, Marini has won two Grand Prix podiums, two pole positions, and four podium sprint races in 2023.

Marini previously strengthened his brother Valentino Rossi's RAcing VR46 Racing Team. He was announced to have separated from the team last weekend before joining Honda today.

Previously, Honda lost their mainstay racer, Marc Marquez, who decided to move to Gresini after 11 years of working to defend the Japanese factory team.
