JAKARTA - Indonesia U-23 entered a tough group at the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup which was held in Qatar, 15 April-3 May 2024.

Based on the draw, Garuda Muda joined in Group A with the hosts Qatar U-23, Australia U-23, and Jordan U-23.

Despite facing a tough team, PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir asked the players not to be afraid.

"The draw results are quite difficult, but Indonesia U-23 will certainly not be afraid to be ready for the opponent. There is enough time to prepare. Both for physical preparation, engineering, and tactics," said Erick Thohir.

"Coach Shin Tae-yong must work harder to form an Indonesia U-23 to be stronger, to be able to compete at the Asian level. Likewise with the players, they must work extra hard and have a strong will to continue to be better," said Erick Thohir on the PSSI website.

Indonesia U-23 is the only newcomer team in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup aka will make their debut.

Things are different from Qatar U-23 which will have its fifth appearance. Meanwhile, Australia U-23 and Jordan U-23 will carry out their sixth participation.

Indonesian U-23 opponents in the group stage also had quite flashy achievements in the U-23 Asian Cup. All three have the best achievements as third in the tournament.

Qatar U-23 won it in the 2018 edition. Then, Australia U-23 is in third place in this tournament in 2020. Finally, Jordan has a similar achievement that was obtained in 2013.
