Ready To Go Down The Mountain, Pacquiao Plans Against Gervonta Davis And Mayweather

JAKARTA Former eight-division boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is ready to descend the mountain from retirement to fight Gervonta Davis and Floyd Mayweather.

He conveyed the plan in an interview with the founder of the Fight Hub TV Marcos Villegas. He even wanted to duel with the two fighters professionally.

"I'm still active and training. I had an exhibition match in December in Japan," Pacquiao said as quoted by Boxing Scene.

"We are working on the duel, [negotiation with] opponents. We are working with [Floyd] Mayweather, but we are still working on it," he added.

The boxer's icon from the Philippines, who will soon turn 45, is known to have had the last professional fight against Yordenis Ugas in August 2021.

He later decided to retire after that and run for president of the Philippines, but was ultimately not elected. On the sidelines of retiring, he continues to open up opportunities to get back into the ring.

In December last year, Pacquiao finally returned to the ring for an exhibition match against mixed martial artist DK Yoo.

In addition, earlier this year, he also announced his desire to compete in the 2024 Olympics. The plan is currently being sought so that he gets a ticket to a universal place to participate in normal qualifications.

Pacquiao, who has a record 62-8-2, 39 KO, said he was also ready for a professional fight against Gervonta, who is one of the most brutal knockout boxers in the sport.

"Gervonta Davis is a good fighter. He is a good fighter, yes. That's not a problem for me. I am an experienced fighter," Pacquiao said.

Pacquiao has faced and defeated several of the best boxers of his generation in various classes including Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez, Erik Morales, Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito, Keith Thurman, Adrien Broner, Timothy Bradley, Lucas Matthysse, Jessie Vargas, Chris Algieri, and Brandon Rios.

Pacquiao was supposed to fight Errol Spence Jr. in his last fight. However, Spence suffered an eye injury a few days before the fight so he ended up fighting Ugas.
