Don't Want To Be Boast After Becoming Arema FC's New Coach, Fernando Valente: I'm Not A Magician

Arema FC officially appointed Fernando Valente as the new coach. The Portuguese man will lead the team nicknamed Singo Edan in the 2023/2024 Liga 1 competition.

"We officially announce that Fernando Velente is the head coach of Arema FC," said Arema FC Manager, Wiebie Dwi Andriyas.

Wiebie explained that Fernando Valente was considered the best choice to puzzle Arema FC because it was considered not only able to handle the club's technical side, but also to raise the mentality of the players in each match to be played.

"We hope that Valente can lead Arema FC so that she can return to the top of the standings," he said.

Meanwhile, Valente felt that she was quite challenged to be able to raise Arema FC's achievements. However, he didn't want to be too boastful.

"I'm not a fan and I'm not doing any magic to win the game, I'm a coach with clear ideas about how football should be played," Valente said.

Valente emphasized to the players to provide maximum effort on the field. This is a form of respect for the victims who died in the October 1, 2022 Kanjuruhan Tragedy event.

"We have humility to learn from our mistakes. We want to use this behavior to pay tribute to the victims of the Kanjuruhan Stadium because otherwise they will die in vain," he said.

Fernando Valente is a coach from Portugal aged 64 years. Valente was coach of the Portuguese League 2, Paredes, in 2001/2002 and 2009/2012.

In addition, he has also been coach of SC Espinho, Desportivo Aves, CD Santa Clara and Varzim SC in the Portuguese league.

Valente is also experienced in investigating the Ukrainian club, Shakhtar Donetsk B in 2019/2021. The last club to be puzzle by the father of Persebaya player Ze Valente was Estoril U-23 in the Portuguese League.
