JAKARTA - Anthony Joshua's battle with Deontay Wilder is likely to be presented in the ring soon. The plan for the duel of the two will be completed in the next "three weeks".
Joshua has been waiting for a duel against The Bronze Bomber for a long time. He wants to get a long-delayed revenge.
The fight, which is planned to be held in Saudi Arabia, has been discussed since Joshua's victory over Robert Helenius, earlier this month. Since then, the conversation has intensified.
AJ promoter Eddie Hearn hopes discussions will peak soon. "Two or three weeks," he told Fight Hub TV.
"I've been to Saudi Arabia twice to negotiate this fight. I've had two meetings, three meetings in London."
"I didn't do it for fun. My instruction from Anthony Joshua [is] 'I want to fight Deontay Wilder.' The only way this fight doesn't happen is if Saudis don't give it a chance," continued the Matchroom Boxing boss.
According to him, this duel is just waiting for all parties to sign the contract and undergo procedures to complete it.
Joshua and Wilder's clashes are targeted for January 2024. However, Hearn admits AJ can return to the ring in December if the fight fails.
"To be honest I won't waste my time flying around the world trying to pretend that's the fight we want. This is the fight we want," Hearn said.
"It's a massive fight, big money, and that's what I have ordered to deliver to AJ."
He added: "We are positive. As I said, we have entered into it."
