JAKARTA – Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI )will hold the Indonesia International Challenge and Indonesia Masters 2023 at the Super 100 level. The two events will be held in the city of Medan, North Sumatra.

The Indonesia International Challenge will roll out from August 29 to September 3, while the Indonesia Masters 1 2023 Super 100 level will take place from September 5 to 10. The two tournaments were held at the Fishing Sports Hall, Deli Serdang.

Chair of the Organizing Committee Armand Darmadji said that these two tournaments were PBSI's commitment to accommodate understudy and junior players to appear at the international level as well as popularize badminton.

"After last year's success in Malang, this year we PBSI are again entrusted with holding two tournaments with the International Challenge and Super 100 levels as a commitment to accommodate coating and junior players to perform at the international level," said Armand.

He explained that the city of Medan was chosen as the host because it saw the readiness and capability of the Fishing Sport Center. This location already has a decent capacity to hold international badminton tournaments.

"Obviously this opportunity is a longing for the city of Medan after waiting for 27 years. Medan has finally returned to holding an international badminton championship after the last event was in 1996 with the Indonesia Open," said Armand.

Participants in the Indonesia International Challenge reached 308 players from 19 countries. The countries referred to are Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the United States and Indonesia.

Meanwhile, for the Indonesia Masters 1 2023 Super 100, there were an additional 436 players from 22 countries. The participating countries are Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Canada, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Turkey, United States of America and Indonesia.

For this event Indonesia will field Alwi Farhan, Yohanes Saut Marcelyno, Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari, Muh Putra Erwiansyah/Patra Harapan Rindorindo, Ribka Sugiarto/Lanny Tria Mayasari, and Jafar Hidayatullah/Aisyah Salsabila Putri Pranata.
