Kepa Arrizabalaga Wants To Replace Courtois At Real Madrid

JAKARTA Kepa Arrizabalaga is claimed to be thinking about leaving Chelsea and moving to Real Madrid who need a new goalkeeper after Thibaut Courtois' injury.

The position as the number one goalkeeper of The Blues has actually been held by Arriabalaga, following the departure of Edouard Mendy to the Saudi Arabian club, Al-Ahli.

The Spain international made most of Mauricio Pochettino's pre-season game in the United States over the summer and will start Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

However, when Arrizabalaga looked satisfied with his position at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea was actually open to accepting an offer for the 28-year-old goalkeeper.

Former Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper who has a contract remaining less than two years has already been the target of Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel who has worked with Arrizabalaga at Chelsea.

However, the situation has now changed with Real Madrid needing a new goalkeeper after Thibaut Courtois potentially missed the entire season due to an ACL injury and had to undergo surgery.

Los Blancos are currently associated with Illan Meslier from Leeds United and Yassine Bounou from Sevilla. This is because Madrid officials have revealed that they want to spend a lot of money to get a new goalkeeper.

Madrid's directors assume Courtois will eventually return to being their main goalkeeper at the end of the 2023-2024 season or in the 2024-2025 season.

Sportsmole reports reveal that according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Los Merengues has been in contact with Arrizabalaga representatives to explore possible lending options from Chelsea.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is said to want to take that opportunity to return to his homeland with a club as big as Real Madrid, either permanently or temporarily.
