Can Manchester City Win Treble Again? Pep Guardiola: Impossible

JAKARTA - Manchester City achieved great success in the 2022/2023 season. The English Premier League club won trebles.

In addition to winning the FA Cup and English Premier League, City also won their first Champions League trophy last season.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said it was impossible for his team to repeat last season's outstanding feat.

"It would be impossible to do what we did last season, it happened once in a lifetime," Guardiola said, as reported by AFP via Antara.

Although they will be favorited to win every competition they participate in this season, Guardiola said his team would find it difficult to win everything.

"We climbed the top last season, but the last two days we've been down and started again from scratch," said the Spaniard.

"Everything has the same desire and it will be difficult to climb the summit. Our football, our level, our mentality will determine how the season goes," he added.

Manchester City will begin their journey to defend the English Premier League title against Burnley. Despite being a promotional team, Guardiola did not want to underestimate Burnley.

"The promotional team always has the energy and dreams of having a good season. How come it (Kompany) really recognizes us, he did an amazing job last season," said Guardiola.

"He changed the way Burnley played when Sean Dyche was still trained and controlled the (division) Championship. He did a good job, it will be a difficult match," he concluded.
