JAKARTA - The Aruba. It Ducati racer, Alvaro Bautista, broke the record after winning the second World Superbike (WSBK) race at the Most Circuit, Czech Republic, Sunday, July 30.
This is Bautista's 50th victory in the WSBK event. This victory also made the Spaniard break the record for the most wins in one season.
He recorded 18 wins, which could increase, in one season. This broke Doug Polen's all-time record of 17 wins in a season.
Bautista admitted that he did not expect to win the second race of the Czech WSBK following two days earlier which was tough.
"I don't expect to win this weekend, especially after a very difficult Friday and Saturday. I always believe in myself, try to calm down and do my best," Bautista said, as reported by Antara.
He said a good start had helped him win the race. He did not hesitate to mention, the start of the race in the Czechs this time was one of the best in his career.
"I know it's important to have a good race and to increase the position of P14 on grid for Race 2. I'm fifth or sixth in Lap 1, I think it's one of the best starts of my life. When I'm in fourth place, I do a lap similar to the three people in front of me," he added.
In the race in Most, the Czechs, second place was won by Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team) who was 4.652 seconds adrift of the race leader. Petrucci competed fiercely with Rea who finally finished third, following Toprak who fell and could not finish the race.
