JAKARTA - The Indonesian badminton team is now focusing on the Singapore Open 2023 tournament which will be held from June 6-11, after a total failure at the Thailand Open 2023. The Head of Development and Achievement Division of PP PBSI, Rionny Mainaky, revealed the target in the Super 750 tournament.

The players are expected to repeat the slick score last season by earning three titles. In addition, they can also earn many ranking points towards the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifiers.

"We are heading to the Singapore Open with the best strength. This is because the players are expected to be able to win as many ranking points as possible towards the Paris Olympics. Moreover, last year we also succeeded at the Singapore Open with three titles," said Rionny, quoted from the PBSI release on Monday, June 5.

"Hopefully, our players can perform optimally and can maintain the achievements won last year. As long as they want to try hard and pray, there is always hope," he added.

Three titles won by Indonesia at the Singapore Open 2022 were presented by Anthony Ginting in the men's singles sector, then Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Marthin also contributed medals for the men's doubles sector by defeating Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the final.

Another title was won by Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti from the women's doubles sector.

For this year's tournament, the names of top players such as Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto will also appear again.
