JAKARTA — France national team captain Hugo Lloris has ambitions to thwart England's bid to win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
England and France will meet in the quarter-finals at the Al Bayt Stadium, Sunday, December 11. France is present as the defending champion, while England is ready to win the tournament since 1966.
However, Lloris is ready to do everything in goal for the Roosters to ensure England doesn't go beyond the last eight.
"We are trying to get stronger step by step and we have to be ready to challenge England. It will be a big fight", he said as quoted by Live Score.
This will be the third World Cup meeting between the Three Lions and Les Bleus. In the previous two clashes, England always won, 2-0 in 1966 and 3-1 in 1982.
However, France as the defending World Cup champions has lost only one of their last eight meetings with England outside of the competition every four years.

The only defeat occurred in a friendly match in November 2015. At that time, Les Blues lost two goals without a reply at the hands of England.
England reached the semi-finals at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and were runners-up at last year's European Championship. They have also scored 12 goals in four appearances in Qatar so Lloris will definitely have a tough task.
"If you look at the England squad, there has been real progress. The team is mature and ready to compete and win trophies. They had no luck at the Euros, they came close", Lloris said.
"For our team there have been a lot of changes, a new generation ready to compete, they play in the best teams in Europe, but we have a good mix of experience and young players", he added.
England reached the last eight after beating Senegal with a landslide score of three goals without reply. Meanwhile, France reached the same round after beating Poland with a score of 3-1.
