The Sad Story Of Olympic Champion Mo Farah, Victim Of Human Trafficking And Living With A False Identity

JAKARTA - Olympic gold medal winner, Mo Farah revealed the sad story of his life that had been kept tightly closed. Mo Falah said he had lived under a false identity and was a victim of human trafficking as a child.

Mo Farah, who is currently a British national, opened up about the fact that she was originally brought to England illegally on behalf of another child. She was brought in when she was nine years old to work as a housemaid.

The man whose real name is Hussein Abdi Kahin was actually born and spent his childhood in East Africa. However, when he was nine years old, he was flown by a woman to England.

Mo Farah, who was abandoned by her father when she was four years old because he was killed in Somalia, claims she was hired to England as well to look after the children of other families in Uncle Sam's country.

"The truth is I'm not what you think I am. Most people know me as Mo Farah, but that's not my name or it's not real", Farah was quoted as saying by The Sun.

"The real story is that I was born in Somaliland, north of Somalia, as Hussein Abdi Kahin. Despite what I have said in the past, my parents never lived in England. When I was four years old, my father was killed in the civil war, you know as a family we are torn apart."

He added: "I was separated from my mother, and I was brought to England illegally under the name of another child named Mohamed Farah."

At the age of 39 years, Farah decided to tell about her true identity and the true events of her past life because she was motivated by her children.

“I've kept it for a long time, it's difficult because I don't want to deal with it and often my children ask, 'Dad, why did this happen?' And you always get an answer for everything, but you don't have an answer for that yet."

"That's the main reason I tell my story because I want to feel normal and not feel like I'm holding on to something", said Farah.

Ahead of his marriage to his wife, Tania, in 2010, Farah also received many questions about herself. Because Tania felt that many parts were missing from her husband's story until finally, Farah told the truth about her past.

Farah also recalled the moment when she arrived in England under a false identity. He felt that he would be safe because he lived with relatives, but in reality, everything was different from what he imagined.

"I had all the contact details for my relatives and as soon as we got to her house the woman took it off me and right in front of me tore it up and put it in the trash and at that moment I knew I was in trouble", he said.

Realizing this situation, Farah finally got up the courage to tell her physical education teacher at the school, Alan Watkinson what really happened. Farah then moved to live with her friend's mother, Kinsi who loved her very much and they lived together for seven years.

Not only looking for a way out for Farah, but Watkinson also applied for British citizenship for the student. Although he acknowledged this through a long process, on 25 July 2000, Farah was recognized as a British citizen.

Farah, who named her son after his real name, Hussein, had other concerns. He said he often thinks about the real Mohamed Farah, whom he sat in on a plane when he was nine years old, and that Farah hopes his son is okay.

"Wherever he is (original Mo Farah), I carry his name and it can cause problems for me and my family now. The important thing for me can only hope that he is okay and this is what really happened", said Farah.
