JAKARTA - Lenovo's Ducati rider, Francesco Bagnaia, had an accident while enjoying the mid-season MotoGP holiday. He experienced it after partying with his friends.
This accident occurred in Ibiza, an island in Southern Spain which is famous for its nightlife. At that time, he came home from the entertainment venue at 3 am local time.
"Last night I was in Ibiza with my friends to party during the MotoGP break. We celebrated and toasted my victory at the Dutch GP," explained Bagnaia on his official Instagram account.
"When I left the place at 3 a.m., I crossed a roundabout and found my front wheel in the ditch without involving the vehicle or anyone else," he continued.
After the incident, Bagnaia underwent an alcohol level test by the police. As a result, the Italian rider was declared in a drunken state.
"A police alcohol test found that my blood alcohol level was higher than what the law allows in Spain," Bagnaia said.
"I apologize for this incident. I'm not a drinker by nature and this was an oversight that shouldn't have happened."
"I apologize to everyone, and I make sure to learn from this mistake. Never drive after drinking alcohol," he continued.
Ducati has not provided official comment regarding this matter. It is not known for certain whether Bagnaia was injured or fine.
