Bali United 1-0 Persebaya Surabaya, Aji Santoso: It's Still Pre-season, This Team Has Enough Prospects For The Future

JAKARTA - Persebaya Surabaya is confirmed to have been eliminated from the 2022 President's Cup after losing 0-1 to Bali United in Group C, Monday, June 20. This defeat made them finish at the bottom of the standings.

In the match at the Starling Harupat Stadium in Bandung, Persebaya lost due to a goal scored by Ramdani Lestaluhu in the 51st minute.

Persebaya Surabaya coach, Aji Santoso said that the failure in the 2022 Presidential Cup will be an evaluation material. However, this does not necessarily show the true strength of the club nicknamed Bajul Ijo.

The 2022 President's Cup is considered a preparatory event for the 2022/2023 Indonesian Liga 1. He admitted, almost all of his players lowered to find the best composition.

"I see the great potential of this team. In the last match against Bali United, we could see several young players and potential debutants in Liga 1 appear so solid. This is what pre-season is for," said Aji in the club's official website.

The same thing was also expressed by Persebaya player, Altariq Ballah. He said this would be the team's evaluation material. "For the league next season," said Alta.

Furthermore, Persebaya will focus on undergoing a training camp in Yogyakarta to face Liga 1. Aji Santoso said his team will undergo a training camp for 12 days starting on June 24.

"I think my team is still 50-60 percent. Especially physical condition. Therefore, we will hold a training camp for League 1 later," said the Persebaya Surabaya coach.
