Canelo's First Threat To Golovkin Ahead Of Their Third Bout: Time To End What We Started

JAKARTA - Even though in the previous two fights Canelo Alvarez has never been defeated by Gennady Golovkin, a third fight is urgently needed to end their rivalry.

On Tuesday, Canelo and Golovkin announced that their third bout would take place on September 17. Canelo, immediately spread threats to his competitors.

"It's time to finish what we started and defend the #CaneloGGG3 title this September 17th," Canelo wrote on his Instagram account the day the fight was announced.

Canelo and Golovkin have faced each other twice in their careers, in September 2017 in a draw that ended, and a year later Canelo beat Golovkin.

On September 17th, they will meet again. And Canelo believes it will be a great fight.

"I am very happy to present the best fight and this is no exception," said Canelo, who will expose his four super-middleweight titles against Golovkin, the middleweight champion.

It was confirmed that Golovkin will fight Canelo again after he performed well against Japanese boxer Ryota Murata on April 9. At that time, GGG won to unify the WBA and IBF middleweight titles.

Canelo, on the other hand, lost his last match in the ring, on May 7 to Dmitry Bivol, who is retaining his WBA light heavyweight title. This is the Mexican boxer's second defeat in his career.

Although Golovkin turned 40 on April 8 and performed well against Murata, fans hope Canelo take advantage of the situation to beat the Kazakh boxer and end their rivalry.
